The da Vinci Days Graand Kinetic Challenge is just around the corner: in fact, it’s due ahead, this Friday! Here’s the schedule:
Friday, July 19th
5:00-8:00 PM: Judging of Pageantry (Team Song) and Engineering @ the Shady Stage: go in the main gate and turn right (map 1 middle pin)
Saturday, July 20th
12:00PM: Leo’s Kinetic Parade STARTS @ 14TH and Campus Way, goes around the blocks just east of the main festival area (map 1 bottom pin)
2:00PM: Lemans Race Start (run to the sculpture, get in/on it, and zoom away) @ 14TH and Campus Way parking lot (map 1 top pin)
2:00-5:00PM: Road Race STARTS and ENDS @ 14TH and Campus Way (map 1 top pin)
2:00-5:00PM Sand Dune (sculptures must go up from either side, turn at the top, and go down the front) @ south end of Benton County Fairgrounds (map 2)
Sunday, July 21st
10:00AM-12:30PM: Mud Bog (what it sounds like, only deeper, stickier, and hungry for shoes and small children) @ Crystal Lake Sports Park (map 3 left pin)
12:00-2:30PM (or so): Water Entrance, float, and exit @ Crystal Lake Boat Ramp, the Willamette, and riverside at 1st and Tyler (map 3 right pin, map 4)
And, of course, there’s the rest of the Art/Science/Music Festival, but the race is the best part!
I hope to see locals there! If you come to the festival, keep an eye out for Doctor Pedal and Mister Ride, my family’s sculpture this year!
Not sure if we’ll end up making stickers, but here’s the design!
Here’s the flag: we each get a small one for our bike, plus the large one for the sculpture!
